Amanda Laughtland
Bar & Grill

She's a girl from high school I can
almost place, Julie McSomeone
or her sister. How to recognize
anyone here who's wearing

a t-shirt printed with the label
for Pabst Blue Ribbon? She blends
into neon signs in shapes
of kegs and long-necked bottles

as she plays dominoes on the bar
with another waitress. The set
looks antique, faded black dots
against ivory tiles, clicking

into place like locker doors.
Amanda Laughtland lives near Seattle and teaches at Edmonds
Community College, where she is also the faculty adviser to the
literary/arts magazine,
Between the Lines. Her book, Postcards to
Box 464,
is forthcoming from Bootstrap Productions. In addition to
writing and teaching Amanda publishes small books and zines under
an imprint called Teeny Tiny.
