Hobble Creek Review
Day of Goldenrod
Today belongs
to feather tops of goldenrod
and goldfinches
punctuating the sky;
to spicy sorrel,
and streams of dandelions
whispering beside my driveway—
to riches that bubble
from chests of earth,
coffers of air,
basting honeycombs,
pollinating and singing,
chasing rabbits across meadows
with yellow footsteps.
They've found their way
of giving birth to the sun;
and so they multiply,
draped in perfumes of orgy,
the thrill of reflecting god.
