The gate is a mountain.
The verse is a bird
with a dull beak.
All day I sit in the sunshine
and try to name it.
The bird is ready.
The mountain swings open
o so briefly.
Corey Mesler's  full-length collection of poems, Some Identity Problems, is
just out from Foothills Publishing. His poem, “Sweet Annie Divine,” was
chosen for Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac. Along with his wife, he is
the owner of Burke's Book store, established in 1875.  Corey has been
nominated for the Pushcart numerous times.
