Lessons from the Loup

Don't be afraid.
Get out of the boat.
Dark water is deepest.
Herons are solitary creatures.
It's easier to wade barefoot than in socks and tennis shoes full of wet   sand.
Waterlogged driftwood sinks.
A garter snake can startle and be startled, even swim under water.
Coons like the smooth cottonwood logs we do
leaving their mulberry-laden droppings.
Bald eagle nests are big as a VW Bug!
Driftwood looks the best where it lies, near cat tails.
Eagles fly high and well.
No matter how old you are, you still hear your mother's voice saying be careful.
Don't over do it. You don't have to prove anything.
Yes you do. You're still your father's daughter.
Ziplock bags are water tight only when they're zipped.
The dark channel is fun to float in if you can't walk on water.
Bridge graffite does not have to be demeaning. People can grow.
"WALLFROG LIVES!"
"Rachel is a bitch"...bitch crossed out, a smiley face added.
"And she loves God!"
Barn swallows are incredible builders.
Wet clothes are heavier than dry.
Never park your bike in poison ivy.
Chiggers love elastic.
It's easier to ride a bike down an embankment than up.
An old iron road packer takes up most of the Hwy 14 bridge.
Its friction makes a lot of noise!
Jake brakes are deafeningly loud when you share a lane with a semi.
A flat yellow cat's carcass isn't nearly as cute as the cat was.
Take the first road into town.
Don't overdo it. Be careful. You don't have to prove anything.
